Kenya has won 6 Medals, 3 gold medals, 2 silver and a bronze on the first day of the Great Lakes Open Paralympics championships at the Nyayo national stadium.
Emmanuel Cheruiyot led a clean medal sweep in the 5000m T11/12 category for the Visually Impaired.
Francis Thuo scooped the silver and double Paralympics champion Henry Wanyoike bronze.
Reigning Paralympic champion Abraham Tarbei bagged gold in the 5000m T46 category for amputees after clocking 14 minutes 27.3 seconds.
Samuel Kuria earned the Kenya’s 3rd gold of the day in the 1500m T 54 Wheelchair category in a time of 4 minutes 15.6 seconds Caleb Odiyo won the silver.
