World jazz musicians meet in South Africa for the annual Standard Bank Joy of Jazz, kick off 26 – 28 August 2010 Newtown Precinct, Johannesburg, South Africa.

The Joy of Jazz is the gathering of jazz lovers and musicians set to invigorate the music and art of the city of Gold central jazz venues. Celebrating its 11th year, the festival includes workshops, Golf day and Music Concerts.
The 2010 Standard Bank Joy of Jazz Festival is sure not to be missed with the line up of over 30 International and National Jazz artists from around America, Japan and Israel. A World standard of Jazz feauturing the likes of Sadao Watanabe, Japanese saxophonist and flutist, StaceBen Williams, Vusi Mahlasela, Jimmy Dludlu, Brian Thusi, Pops Mohamed, Jonas Gwangwa and Sweden’s Grammy-award winner, Andreas Vollenweider. American singer Phil Perry; Main Ingredient’s singers, Cuba Gooding Senior, Larry Moore and George Stanley Senior; trumpeter, Ingrid Jensen; Spain’s Sumrra; Sterling EQ; Kesivan Naidoo; Nigerian All Stars; Kúnlé Ayo and Room 11 are also on the bill.
It will take over the Newtown precinct including six venues and Market Theatre on the side will be dazzled with jazz sounds for the period of tree days. The venue erected into the Jazz Palace will have visitors from all over South Africa and outside still in the spirit of World Cup 2010. South Africa Celebrates Women’s month in Augast, to honor this-Joy of jazz has a line up of top female performers from South Africa and the world. Oumou Sangare and Melanie Scholtz-the Standard Bank Young Artist for Jazz for 2010, Lalah Hathaway, Nhlanhla Nciza, American jazz vocalist Stacey Kent, Wanda Baloyo and Pu2ma. They will grace the stages and deliver women power with sounds of Jazz and Joy. The Songbird of Wassoulou Oumou Sangare will dazzle the crowd and embrace African women. Oumou Sangare is the voice of feminism in West Africa and her music symbolize the struggle against gender imbalance.
