The World Bank is to establish six ICT centers in each of the six geo-political zones in Nigeria at the cost of N2.4 million dollars, Dr Abimbola Adubi, the Task Team Leader, has said.
Adubi, who disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) yesterday in Abuja, said the centers would be funded from the Japanese Trust Fund for The centres, when established, would enable farmers to access information on produce, stock markets, importation, seeds and other related services from any part of the world using their GSM phones, he said.
“ICT centre is now the main thing driving the global agricultural sector and there is need to set up the centers in Nigeria to reposition Nigerian farmers to meet the challenges of the 21st Century,’’ he said.
He said one ICT centre would be built in one state in each of the zones.
